I am curious of what you all think about this years theme. It is the American dream~ a homage to the mulicultural United States, celebrated by the majoriy: caucasians. Any comments? I

Sat, May 17, 2008 - 8:05 AMOne big circle jerking massage-fest while they sing the praises of "art" by wrecking the pristine environment that they stomp on but cry "We pick up our trash!"
Don't get me wrong. I'm somewhat liberal but I'm not left of Stalin. -

Sun, May 18, 2008 - 8:58 AMI would love to know if there's a study about what the carbon footprint of the event is. Not only the burning, but the travel and resources consumed. -

Re: the american dream 2008
Sun, May 18, 2008 - 4:03 PMExcellent point. How can you leave no trace of that behind? -
-
Re: the american dream 2008
Sun, May 18, 2008 - 10:52 PMThe trace left behind is like a huge TURD a burning turd in fact ! It smells up the air with such a foul stench of burnt plastic etc spattered with images of puke and glow sticks. The RV culture that burning scam has inspired is not at all sustainable by any means, it discusting ! The american scream is a better adjunct.

Re: the american dream 2008
Tue, May 20, 2008 - 9:12 AMLarry had some bad acid, envisioned the desert scenario & thought it was a good idea & everyone else was too stoned to object. That's my guess.
And then suddenly it was like Scientology. Have a great time! Have a life-changing experience! Do it in a place no sane person would inhabit EVER, tell the people who think you're idiots that they just aren't enlightened, believe it is the be-all-end-all & pay out the nose through it!

Re: the american dream 2008
Mon, July 14, 2008 - 6:35 AMIf burning man didn't celebrate white people....
50,000 Black people at burning man would be considered a a Gang riot
50,000 Hispanics would be considered border jumpers looking for a home depot
50,000 Asians would be considered a fire drill
The totalitarian Larry has been firing anyone that questions his judgment on the theme. Tell him you think it's a bad idea and you're FIRED. The question begs to be asked if that boot licking cud Obama will show up. I think that's the plan, give a theme this year that begs a presidential candidate to show up. Obama I'm sure will be down with burning man. He likes drugs. the problem is his wife hates white people, so it's a tough call if he can go stag or not.
No way in hell McCain would show up. I can't even come up with anything funny about it. Just wouldn't happen. That or he'd be out with the mud people rolling around like a naked retard in playa mud.
The ultimate of course would be to get Obama and McCain into the thunderdome. Nobody could ask for more. McCain would work him over, but it would still be awesome to see. All somebody would have to yell with be DIDI MAO! a few times at McCain, get some flashback from 'Nam happening and boom - killing machine!
Anyway.... this years theme is just as shit dick retarded as last years green man.

Mon, July 14, 2008 - 12:46 PMugh. Shatter, you know I love you, but if you're going to troll, try using facts, instead of parroting crap from Free Republic. -

Re: the american dream 2008
Tue, July 15, 2008 - 1:19 AMWhat's free republic?
Seriously, if you can come up with something funny about McCain at BM, please do share. Short of poking fun at his stay at the Hanoi Hilton (which, really, it's funny) there's not much. He's a republican. Nothing I can sling his way can make him any more dirty, unless of course he rolls around in the mud, as stated.
I still thing sticking candidates in the thunderdome would be the most civilized form of election.

those crackheads think planting a few trees in Arizona or somewhere helps fix all the damage ---whatever... it doesn;t. but htey pretend to buy some credits or something.
as far as the race thing, ridiculous. the American dream- sure, totally.
GLUTTONOUS WASTE. money to BURN. that is what America is all about so why not - and of course, the vast majority of any huge waste of money and leisure time are white folks -
-
Re: the american dream 2008
Tue, July 15, 2008 - 8:03 AMBlowing wads of money isn't a unique trait of white people. All cultures equally blow large amounts of money on stupid things that could be better spent elsewhere.

Wed, July 16, 2008 - 12:49 AMBut this group has the added bonus in doing it in the name of art & playing at being neo-hippies/artists while being able to afford to miss a week of work, a $300 ticket, the gas money to get there, whatever else they need to survive for a summer week in the desert & whatever crap they think would be cool to bring, like drugs, stupid clothes & that fabulous fashion accessory one genius thought to bring last year: a noose. -

Re: the american dream 2008
Wed, July 16, 2008 - 1:05 AMOh, & calling themselves eco-friendly.
You know, I like to go play in the desert too; California City & hopefully Glamis, eventually.
I may not share the political leanings as a lot of the folks who head out there, but at least they don't try to mask their hedonism under some pretentious fake hippy/fake artist nonsense. -

Re: the american dream 2008
Wed, July 16, 2008 - 8:45 AMYou know you're onto something when enough pressure has been put on something that you really don't have to do anything, and they do all your work for you.
27,000 ton? Now they try to figure how to offset it? It's easy - IF YOU CARE, STOP THROWING THE EVENT.

Re: the american dream 2008
Thu, July 17, 2008 - 9:13 AMI love how during "green man" they had an "art display" where they essentially just set on fire a barrel of crude oil. How is this green?
I've already seen ads for a beauty pageant during "The American dream".
I also checked out the BM tribe the other day, and there was a whole list on using the "diaper genie" to keep your trash/ diapers/ etc from smelling. The diaper genie is honestly one of the objects that eco-scares the crap out of me. Mummifying your child's sh*t for all eternity in a landfill of plastic crap sausages. As if disposable diapers aren't bad enough. Completely terrifying! -
