A bigger waste of energy and, a bigger centre of self-deluded, culturally mis-appropriating sheltered, trust-fund babies, and covertly racist and sexist ruling class pretenders I have encountered NOWHERE.

right ........................................... it 's just me and my "negative vibes, man"

Dharma does not include engaging in bullshit, covert capitalism orgies, nor shameless ruling class consumption while others starve.

I hereby denounnce burningman, it's followers, and what it creates: a sense of smug, and false spiritual accomplishment.
also a racist mis-appropriation of other cultures, as well as "let the servants do the dirty work" attitude towards, police, military and every other device that props up these "global gaia freedom connection purple spirit karma nudist indigo child free love" deluded idiots.
they play in the sand, building castles, like children and delude themseles and their bloated egos, into believeing they are actually promoting change, while they live firmly in the protective busom of capitalist society. I find it disgusting. racist, and very very imperial.
no offense to this guy,
people.tribe.net/raracheshcubumba ,
but he is a perfect example of why humility must preceed instruction. and how the sacrifices that were made in blood by people who actually fought for these rights, are now being completely wasted by a self centered "left" that does a disservice to the entire history of actual activism.

I said it.
when you can admit your human dark side, and work from there, without lying about it, you have a far better chance of making a historical impact on society.

check history. history is not made by those who dally in the opium dens, nor the mental disneylands and playgrounds of the flesh, decked out in the colors of another culture, and mouthing words, and tattooing kanji, they rarely understand.
it is made by those who can travel to the very sewers of the spirit and raise those who have fallen. not by exalting those who were born rich and act spiritually advanced because they never had the poor fortune to have their spirits tested by real conflict, and real life and death situations.

your culture of consumption offends me, and your profund ignorance in regards to your actual place in thhis capitalist culture amaze me.

there it is.

I invite any comments whatsoever.

  • Yes, Yes, Piero you nailed it with alarming percision: a sense of smug, and false spiritual accomplishment.

I'd like to add, one that is perpetuated knowingly for profit. And not financial profit either, no one is really getting rich off of it, just maintaining livelyhoods ( for now)

No I speak to something far more sinister, the false spiritual accomplishment, the air of 'guruism' that the organizers and zealots of the festival perpetuate.

It lures in more and more people each year.

I had a horrid experience hosting one of Frank Zappa's alumni who had such stars in his eyes about the spiritual potential of the event that I had to let him know what I saw as a staff member. I would have liked to get to know this guy purely for what he had done ( I am a huge fan of FZ) and would have loved to collaborate musically with the guy, but all he was about was "burning man, burning man". By the time we parted company in September, he saw it for what it was, a cunningly marketed promotion. He felt ashamed for being so silly, the guy is no spring chicken. Unfortunately for me, he also came to see me as a fountain of negativity, thanks to my return to volunteering going very badly. I think he resents me to some degree for trashing his spiritual pilgrimage.

Well, the culture of bullies is eating itself, and +- 40,000 zealots are finding themselves galvanized over the lawsuit. I'm popping popcorn and watching the show with great appreciation.

Hey, if along the way of someone's "spiritual pilgrimage" they get their ass kicked by an unkind reality, then they they got exactly what they claimed they wanted. you were a part of his journey. this is something very few learned seekers share with pilgrims (as if they would listen)

The lesson of the guru, is that you need to take responsibility for your own spiritual advancement, and there is therefore no need of gurus.
But then if any of these people with self-given Indian names and bindis had the respect to have (rare that burners know what they actually are, and no, they are not "third eye enhancers") studied the Sutras, vedas, or the Bhagavad Gita, they would already know that.
Guess it never occurred to them to actually learn from, and pay respect to, the culture they pimp for fashion.
