Burning Man changed my life!
You hear that a lot, particularly after each year's BM. It's usually said in a positive tone.
Look back at the people you know who went to BM and said that. Have they really changed, for the better? (Acquiring drug habits or diseases or breaking up with long-term partners doesn't count, unless they really should have DTMFA years ago.) Are they really happier in October, or in January, than they were before they bought their ticket or started packing? Do they have their shit more together than previously? Are they actually following up on whatever mystical change that was triggered at BM?
Inquiring minds want to know.

Re: Burning Man changed my life!
Thu, December 27, 2007 - 11:07 AMBurning Man certainly changes my life. Why? Because I stay in Chicago, while some of the most annoying coffeehouse regulars I've ever seen clear out for a week, a whole glorious week, and I can enjoy my iced dark roast in peace.
Why oh why does Burning Man come but once per year? -

Re: Burning Man changed my life!
Thu, March 6, 2008 - 9:34 PMWhy can't they make it a month long fest.......... I'm an hour north of SF and during BM the city is GREAT!!!! Less traffic, you can get into a restaurant with no problem........
The only dreg is that when they come back.......
years ago I was in a class where this young 20 something who got selected to a reality tv show for 2 weeks, this was a summer session course an hence it was a daily grind for several hours a day....... I dreaded being late for the fear I would be forced to sit next to this girl and her entourage and hours and hours of having to listen to this DNA misfire ramble on and on about her "experience" ........ augh it was mind numbing it seems many of the BM devoted drain on in a similar fashion..... the sad part to all of this is that for many of the BM faithful those two weeks in the middle of no where being extorted for water and tp is the best experience they have to fall back on.

Mon, July 14, 2008 - 6:17 AMIn San Francisco during burning man we have a seperate cult gather for the week called PARKING MAN
It's the one week out of the year that you can typically find easy parking in any area of San Francisco. Driving in the streets is nice too.
